A little more about me
A curious mind.
A hands-on heart.
I’m Monica, a Brazilian-American from São Paulo, now at home in San Diego. I’m exploring how design, storytelling and AI can come together in digital experiences with a little personality.

From the shop floor
to the screen
My career began in customer experience and grew into e-commerce and CRM. At Marcyn and Rakuten Brasil, I worked with product catalogs, digital content, campaigns, customer segmentation and the details that keep an online store running.
I also coordinated creative briefs and an e-commerce photoshoot, maintained email templates, and worked alongside marketing and design teams. That work gave me a close look at how images, words and small details shape a shopping experience.
Later, working at Anthropologie and Nordstrom brought me closer to customers again. Listening to what people ask, notice and hesitate over still shapes how I approach an experience.
Learning to start again
I moved to the United States in 2018 without speaking English. I spent six months studying in San Francisco, then kept learning through everyday life and my work at Anthropologie.
Along the way, I completed UC Berkeley Extension’s Professional Program in Graphic Design, from 2019 to 2021. It gave me another way to connect clear communication, visual thinking and practical problem-solving.
I moved to San Diego in 2023 and became a mother in 2024. During a career break focused on my family, I began exploring AI through hands-on projects. It has become a way to test ideas, learn new techniques and build things I could previously only imagine. I shape the concept, refine the details and keep learning through the making.

There’s usually a cake in my kitchen.
I love cooking, especially baking. Chocolate cake, brigadeiro, cream puffs, bread, pizza: there is almost always something homemade waiting to be shared.
I share life with my husband, our young son and the rescue dog we adopted in Brazil. I also used to make miniature polymer-clay sculptures, a hands-on creative practice I hope to return to.
Whether I’m shaping a miniature, testing a recipe or trying out an interaction, I like making something, noticing what feels off and giving it another go.
